New This Spring: Softball and Soccer Leagues

The Virginia Park Community Centre will be starting its first ever co-ed softball and soccer leagues this spring. The league will operate out of the Kenny Myers Memorial Softball Field in Virginia Park. Those interested should pick up a registration form from the Community Centre as soon as possible. The leagues will be offered to boys and girls aged 12 and under. We will start as soon as the field is deemed useable by the City of St. John’s.

Too old? No worries, we could use your help! Contact the Community Centre for more information on how you can get involved. This is a great opportunity for you to develop life skills and volunteer experience employers will be looking for in the future.

Quilting Group

Our 50+ Quilting Group for the past few weeks have been making baby blankets. They have very generously donated these blankets to our Healthy Baby Club. The expectant mothers are thrilled to receive these hand crafted gifts and truly appreciate the group’s hard work.

On Wednesday, May 1^st we held our annual Volunteer Social. We would like to thank all of our volunteers who came out to celebrate volunteer week with us. Special congratulations to the winner of the Youth Volunteer Award: Amanda Chipman, and the winner of the Adult Volunteer Award: Chantal Walsh.

Special Congratulations to Virginia Park Elementary for receiving a $48,000 grant from Indigo Love of Reading to improve their library.

Summer Employment
