Computer & Internet Access Feel free to drop by the centre anytime to avail of our CAP program. You have free access to our computers, printers and faxes.
Preschool / Nursery School There are some spaces still available for these programs. Any child attending must be toilet trained. Cost $8.00 per session. For more information, please contact Juanita at 579 4534.
Parent & Tot Program Starts at 9:30 am and is over at 11:30 am. This program runs on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Snacks are provided.
After School Program Runs from 2:30 pm - 4:45 pm. A nutritious snack is provided free of charge to participants. All participants should have
50+ Quilting Is held on Tuesday afternoons from 12:00 pm - 2:30 pm.
Co-ed Hockey Takes place Tuesday Nights at Virginia Park Elementary School from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Cost $0.50 to participate. Everyone playing MUST wear protective gear (Helmets and gloves). Some equipment is available.
Basketball Takes place Thursday nights at Virginia Park Elementary School. Times are as follows: 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Girls aged 9 - 11 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Boys aged 9 - 11 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm, Teens aged 12 - 15 ($1.00 per teen)
Saturday Recreation Takes place at Virginia Park Elementary School from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm.
Board Member Overview The mission: Is dedicated to the promotion of the physical, mental, emotional, educational, social and spiritual development of residents living in Virginia Park with emphasis on serving the needs of tenants living in NLHC units starting from prenatal to senior citizens in a working atmosphere based on partnership and consensus where every participant has an opportunity to share ideas and participate equally.
Responsibilities and requirements for a Board member include:
- Must be 19 years of age -Resident of the Virginia Park area -Attend at least 75% of board meetings -Participate in subcommittees and work as required -Participate in board discussions and decision making -Staying informed about what is going on with the Community Centre -Come to meetings prepared and have read all materials received -Act in the best interest of the Centre and excusing oneself from discussions and votes where there is a conflict of interest -Work in good faith with staff and volunteers, in a respectful and positive manner -Participate in professional development and strategic planning sessions -Advocate for the organization

VPCC Summer Positions
-We will be hiring summer counsellors for our Day Camp and Drop-In programs -The Day Camp program will run for 8 weeks from July 5th to August 13th, Monday to Friday -The Drop-In program will run for 6 weeks from July 5 to August 13th, Monday to Friday -Hours of work will be between 8:00 am to 5:30 pm -These positions will require supervising, participating, planning, organizing and implementing programs for children ages 5 to 16 years old -All positions require a certificate of First Aid and a criminal record check to be provided before hiring -These positions require some high school education, completion of high school, some college or university education. With experience in child care, sports, or recreation an asset -These positions require individuals who can lead groups through sports, organized games and activities, plan and carry out activities with little supervision or guidance, enforce safety rules and regulations, mediate disputes and schedule transportation for outings -Successful individuals hired for these positions will assist with special events, prepare reports, maintain and repair sports equipment, and keep records and log books.

Volunteer Softball Coach
We are looking for a coach for the boy's softball team. This person would have to be 19 or older and available during the month of July for two tournaments, The Kenny Myers and The Moss. The coach must also be available for a few evening and weekend practices planned at their own convince. Experience is required.
